Here you will find a feature article on one of our horses.
We hope you will enjoy this quarterly read on some of our (sometimes) lesser known horses.
Born & raised at Willow Way, Bacardi is sired by the World Champion Live Oak Omega and out of the mare Breezy Hill Queen Tori (x Torrs Jubilant).
Bacardi was one of our main breeding stallions from the time he was a three year old, with the exception of the few years he was leased out by Great American Clydesdales in Indiana, Battle River Clydesdales in Saskatchewan & Westerdale Clydesdales in Olds, Alberta.
He owns the title of the longest standing horse here at Willow Way.
He is known for producing foals known for their tremendous movement, length of neck, huge feet, beautiful heads, and his 'trademark' of a little extra chrome. We could always count on Bacardi to have very typey foals, exuding clyde character.
Bacardi was sold to Messinger Clydesdales in the fall of 2014, as we had retained his son Kelso as a sire and upon selling Bacardi, we secured ownership of Firestone, another upstanding son.
Although he is greatly missed here, we know that Bacardi is enjoying life on the East Coast.
Willow Way Mavis
2012 mare out of Westerdale Friendly Fiona.
Mavis was purchased after winning "Best of Show" at Olds by David Anderson of St. Thomas, Ontario. She was successfully shown in the USA before ending the year at the World Show. She is the current World Champion 3 year old mare and the 2015 All-Canadian 3 year old mare.
Willow Way Inferno
2008 gelding out of Langbank Diamond.
We showed Inferno on halter & in the cart as a three year old, but Inferno's impressive show career really began after being purchased by David & Margo Carson where he was shown to many championships on halter & in their six horse hitch. Inferno finished his career with them by winning Reserve World Champion Gelding & filling the right swing position of their World Champion Gelding Six. As well, Inferno is also the 2015 All-Canadian Gelding.
Inferno now resides at the famous Hallamore Clydesdales.
Bacardi continues to influence our breeding program through his two sons Firestone & Kelso.
Bacardi mainly produced colts, however in the last few years we owned him he did give us a few fillies. We have a full sister to Kelso in our broodmare band, and some younger mares that will be retained for broodmares.
Bacardi is also the sire of the twins, and we truly believe if not for Bacardi's fighting spirit within these two miracles, that they would not have thrived as they have since birth.
